“The Matica and Beyond” book by A. Stynen and K. Lajosi is out!
NISE is proud to present the book “The Matica and Beyond”, by Andreas Stynen and Krisztina Lajosi. This book is the result of the proceedings of the workshop organised by NISE and SPIN in 2012, at the Central European University (CEU), in Budapest.
“The Matica and Beyond” is the first concerted attempt to comparatively investigate both the specificity and commonality of the nineteenth-century cultural associations that aimed at spreading the idea of the nation by publishing literary and scientific texts in their national language.
The book brings together cases from differing regional, political and social circumstances.
